An insulated cover uses a foam-core panel between two aluminum skins. On a single-skin solid roof the panel heats up in the afternoon and radiates down at you; the foam core stops that, so the air under an insulated cover in Yorba Linda or Santa Ana is noticeably cooler on a hot day, and the drum of a winter storm is muffled too.
The panel is also structural. It spans further between beams, carries more weight, and is the roof you want if you might enclose the patio into a room later.

Seven colors, four edges.
Two choices shape how the cover looks from the yard: the baked-on color, and the profile cut into the end of every rafter. The finish sheds dirt, dust and stains and stands up to sun, salt and pollution, so the cover stays the color you chose.

Alumawood is embossed aluminum. It reads as timber from the yard and asks nothing of you afterwards.

Termites and carpenter bees get nothing to eat. There is no wood in it.

The color is baked on. It does not peel, so there is nothing to scrape or repaint.

Sun, wind and the occasional hard rain leave it as it was. Aluminum does not rot or rust.

It does not dry out and split the way wood does after a few inland summers and a few salt-air winters.

Cooler enough to feel on an inland afternoon. The foam core stops the roof skin's heat radiating down onto you, which is the main thing a single-skin roof does in August. We do not quote a figure because it depends on the day and the exposure.
Yes. The insulated panel is engineered as a roof, so an enclosure with walls and windows can be built under it later. If that is the plan, tell us at the estimate so the posts and footings are sized for it now.
Yes. Power screens from several makers mount to the cover's beams and drop to block glare, wind and bugs, which is handy around a pool or an outdoor TV. They can go in with the cover or later.
Yes. LED lights, recessed or string style, wire into the rafters, and a ceiling fan mounts to a solid or insulated roof or to a fan beam on a lattice. Say so at the estimate and the wiring is run during the build, by a licensed electrician, to code.
Yes, with the clearances the heater's maker specifies. Alumawood is Class A fire rated. A gas or electric heater stretches the season into fall and early spring.
The cover itself is fixed, but the screens, shades, lights, fans and heaters you add to it can be tied to sun, wind and rain sensors or a smart-home hub. A screen can drop on its own when the wind gets up, and the lights can come on from your phone.
Yes. Irvine, Yorba Linda, the newer tracts in Buena Park and most of the planned communities south of the 405 have an architectural committee, and each one wants roughly the same packet: a site plan, the color, and the manufacturer's spec sheet. We prepare it, submit it, and answer the committee's questions. It is the one part of the schedule we do not control, so we start it first.
Labor and materials on the cover itself. If it stops working the way it should, we repair it at no charge. The details are on the warranty page.
